Matthew Bell is a reporter with PRI’s The World, a one-hour weekday international news program and a co-production of the BBC World Service, PRI and WGBH Boston. PRI’s The World is headquartered in Boston and the program airs on public radio stations across the country.
Matthew covers breaking international news stories from the WGBH newsroom, located in the lovely Brighton section of Boston. He’s also filed stories from places as disparate as London, Brussels, Belfast, Seoul, Shanghai, Jerusalem and Cincinnati, among other places. These days, he’s keeping busy covering the incoming administration of Barack Obama and hosting The World’s American Influence Podcast. Other areas Matthew has focused on since joining The World team in 2001 are China, the Koreas, immigration in the US and the politics of American foreign policy.
Matthew lives in the Eagle Hill neighborhood of East Boston (hence the name of the blog) with his wife and son. Before that, he worked for the radio program, “Pacific Time” at KQED in San Francisco; he studied journalism at UC Berkeley; he taught public high school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn and, before that, he studied comparative religion and Chinese history at the University of Vermont.
The World from Eagle Hill blog started up in April 2008.

Matt,
This is wonderful that you’ll be posting links to your news stories on your own site. It will certainly make it easier to find your work. I’m hoping that we’ll also see some content and opinions that are not appropriate for a news format like The World.
